Most of the paints are available in different gloss/sheen level (shininess) variants-

• Matt,
• Silk/Satin/Eggshell,
• Semi-Gloss and
• Gloss

It is often a difficult decision for the home owner to choose a right sheen level for his/her finishes.

• Cleanability- Even though now washable paints are available in Matt finish for few companies worldwide, but as a thumb rule- better sheen means better cleanability. Kinds room, Kitchen, Drawing room etc., class room should better be painted in higher sheen level.
• Personal preference- Above all factors- personal factor many times takes the pilot seat. Afterall it is your home- you have every right to set your own rules in your home. If you are a jazzy person- may like glossy finish even in your bedroom.
